History
The Preschool has been in existence at St. John’s Church since at least 1951. During these nearly 70 years, there have been only three stewards of the preschool. The first was St. John’s Church who operated the school into the early 2000’s. Then Ross Recreation and the Town of Ross operated the preschool (and subsidized it as needed) until finally, in 2018, the operations of the preschool were passed to San Francisco International School (dba “The Ross Preschool”), a small nonprofit founded by David Allen-Hughes.
Since the beginning, The Ross Preschool has focused on developing each child’s self-confidence, providing opportunities for socialization, and preparing children for kindergarten. The school offers a loving, safe, and welcoming environment with individual attention for each student, which is made possible by the low student-to-teacher ratio and the program philosophy/design.
